During the 2009 NRDA meeting at the AEI, there was significant discussion about moving forward with collaborations between the numerical relativity and gravitational wave communities. This culminated on Thursday with a productive meeting with significant representation from the NR community and the LIGO and Virgo collaborations. There were five short talks given to help initiate and focus the discussion which have been posted below. These provide a nice overview of the topics which were discus…

We would like to start moving forward with a second NINJA project, aimed at testing the gravitational wave analysis pipelines' sensitivity to numerical waveforms. This would build upon the success of the first NINJA project while extending it to be a more systematic test, using real gravitational wave detector data. Other NINJA projects, including one focused on matter, are envisioned to occur in parallel, although not using real data.

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to collaborate with us on a research project to explore the implications of the recent numerical relativity results for gravitational wave searches. The goal of the project, called Numerical INJection Analysis (NINJA), is to study the efficiency of gravitational wave searches to numerical relativity waveforms. In brief, we plan to create a simulated data set of Gaussian noise from four ground-based gravitational wave detectors. The data set will con…
